EXO: Obsession-The 6th Album

I want to first say a huge thank you to Penny and Belinda for seriously putting me up on game when it came to Kpop. I will be the first to admit it wasn't on my radar, like at all. The Album title accurately expresses my fixation with this genre of music. (Obsession).

I will say that I was skeptical at first, and not because I was closed to the idea. I honestly was just stuck inside my own bubble of music. Considering I'm an eclectic connoisseur when it comes to my music, how I'd never embraced this into my life is a mystery. Better late than never!

I started this blog maybe a month or so ago, with the express intent to just share my love with music, but the thing was, I needed to wait for EXO to come out with their album, and I was willing to wait for however long that was. Because I wanted their next album to be my first post!

So hats off to me, cause I didn't have to wait forever!

I wish I could say I had my CD, but it won't be here until Monday, and I'll be in another country sadly. But I did download the entire album on Apple Music. The tracks all are a good mix.

1. Obsession
2. Trouble
3. Jekyll
4. Groove
5. Ya Ya Ya
6. Baby You Are
7. Non Stop
8. Day After Day
9. Butterfly Effect
10. Obsession (Chinese Version)

Favorite Tracks & Review:

This is in no particular order but I'm totally feeling: Obsession, Trouble and Butterfly Effect.

The first track pulls you in and lets you know that you're NOT going to be disappointed. The collab with Dem Jointz... (LIT). What else is there to say. I love the main beat, but if you pay attention and just listen to the backbeat along with the vocals, it's a smooth blend of perfection. It's something you can sway with or get hyped. The hook and the chorus are smooth. And of course, Baekhyun's vocals are always on point. (I have a thing for his voice.) For some reason, I naturally gravitate towards his voice.

Every single track has its own flavor and each taste is bold and refreshing. I can't explain it any other way. Trouble is another of my favorite tracks along with the Butterfly Effect. There isn't a track on here that I don't like, but there are some that stick out more than others for me. It's not because the others are lacking in any way, it's just my personal taste. If I had to put them in order it would go like this...

1.2.9.4.6.3.5.8.7.10

The MV: Obsession

These guys have all the moves. I mean dangerously so. The hip rolls and the pops and precision in the choreography are a feast for the eyes. Their movements are fluid and graceful, while at the same time blunt and fierce. I've watched this video at least twenty times today, its because I like to focus on each member and watch them from beginning to end.  Not to mention trying to accurately decipher the video itself. Featuring the good version of EXO and the evil version of EXO. All I can say is i"m torn because each version of the members are equally appealing. Baekhyun and the fencing, Kai and his dance moves,  Chanyeol's lyrics. How can you go wrong?  Chen's voice and those notes that fly from his mouth... AAAAHHHHMAZING! I'm trying really hard to give each member their fair do. And I know you season Kpopers have bias' and such. I want to say this entire group has my heart in so many ways. They can dance, rap, and harmonize like it's nobody's business. The group as a whole is amazing.

I have to admit that I've gone out and purchased all EXO albums and was not disappointed. I stopped buying CD's years ago, especially with the streaming option we all now have available to us, but this genre of music has given me a reason to start purchasing again. (Maybe a bit too much).

Overall the album far surpasses my expectations and I'll be jamming this on my 10-hour flight to Brasil this weekend and for days to come. Thank you EXO for the amazing music! My ears thank you as well! Keep the music coming!
